FAQ

+What is gold-filled jewelry?

Gold-filled is made by heat and pressure-bonding a layer of karat gold to a base metal core. "14/20" gold-filled material is made with 14-karat gold and the gold represents 1/20th (or 5%) of the total weight of the material. It is tarnish resistant, and has the same look and feel of solid gold. The value of gold-filled is greater than gold-plated because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold. Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating. As such, it is more expensive than sterling silver, but still so more affordable than solid gold.

+What is silver -filled ?

Silver filled metal is made by bonding a layer of sterling silver over a core of another metal (usually copper). It involves a much thicker layer (100times) of silver than is used in silver plated metals. Its less costly then 925silver.
